Parliamentarians of the initiative “Europe of the Carpathians” strive to collaborate with Collegium Carpathicum

On the first day of work of the Economic Forum (the so-called Central European Davos), that in the conditions of the pandemic is being held in the Polish mountain town of Karpacz in the period from the 8th till the 10th of September, Ihor Tsependa, the rector of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, participated in the rectors’ meeting of the initiative Collegium Carpathicum together with Marek Kuchciński, the head of the Parliamentary Carpathian group and initiative “Europe of the Carpathians”, and Jan Malicki, the director of East European Studies at the University of Warsaw, the initiator of  Collegium Carpathicum.

“This year has been difficult for cooperation and realisation of Collegium Carpathicum as well as of ‘Europe of the Carpathians’,” stated rector Ihor Tsependa. Due to the pandemic the planned delivery of traditional face-to-face lectures within the framework of Collegium Carpathicum and the exchange of professors did not take place. During the meeting the participants also discussed possibilities of universities’ collaboration from the point of view of the region’s principal lines of work. Those are ecology, history, ethnography, intercultural relations.

The rectors approved Marek Kuchciński’s proposal to work on safety in the Carpathians’ tourist areas. The sides accepted the proposal to schedule a mutual sitting of the deputies whose countries are part of the initiative “Europe of the Carpathians” and representatives of Collegium Carpathicum universities to identify further stages of cooperation at the International scientific centre “Observatory” on Mount Pip Ivan on the 24th of June 2021.
