According to the data of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics only 28% of scientists in the world are women, in Ukraine this number is 45%. Our country holds the 12 th place among 41 countries in the world as to the number of women-scientists. In 2018 Ukrainian award, which is a part of the global programme L’Oréal-UNESCO Awards for Women in Science, was initiated. It aims at young women who are professionally engaged into scientific research in the STEM sphere (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) and encourages them to develop Ukrainian science.
