Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University has won a grant from the European Parliament to implement the project “Strengthening of Capacity for Conference Interpreters’ Training at PNU 2024-2025”. This is the second grant that PNU has received from the European Parliament to implement new standards in the preparation of interpreters.
As of academic year 2023-2024, thanks to the grant from the European Parliament, PNU has opened a laboratory to train simultaneous interpreters with the use of modern equipment, relevant methods and study materials. The new grant for academic year 2024-2025 will enable the university to approximate our training standards of consecutive and simultaneous interpreting training to European expectations.
Within the new project supported by the European Parliament our students will have an opportunity to attend an online training on the theory of interpreting from leading European experts and participate in a study visit to improve their skills. Also, within the new project we will increase the number of contact hours for consecutive and simultaneous interpreting training, involve practicing interpreters in interpreting teaching and introduce interpreting from another foreign language.
