On September 26, Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Museum hosted a presentation of a unique tactile art catalog “To See the Treasures Together!” under the slogan “Look by Touching!” This project is part of a well-known museum initiative “Save the Treasures Together!” and introduces a typhlographic and acoustic version that allows blind and visually impaired individuals to “see” icons through tactile reliefs and audio descriptions.
The project has been initiated and led by Nadiia Babii, PhD in Art History, Associate Professor at the Department of Design and Art Theory of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Arts, Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (PNU). She collaborated with a creative team, including Valerii Tverdokhlib, a restoration artist, and Anatolii Kuchmil, Braille editor, to create this catalog.
The project was also supported by faculty and students of the PNU’s Institute of Arts.
The album contains 24 relief illustrations of Galician icons, with annotations printed in Braille. The audio for the catalog was recorded by Irma Vitovska-Vantsa, a Merited Artist of Ukraine.
