The 4-th year student of the Philological Department of Precarpathian University, specialising in the Ukrainian language and literature, Iryna Budziak has won the second round of The International Scientific Research Competition (Specialisation «Philology») and is awarded the Diploma of the I Degree. Her scientific supervisor is Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Chair of Ukrainian Literature of the Philological Department Nataliia Maftyn.
Our student submitted her research «Modern Ukrainian Literature Through the Prism of Ecocriticism» in which she analysed the main stages in the development of ecocriticism and pointed out the main environmental subjects touched upon in Ukrainian literature. A number of Ukrainian modern literary works were investigated from the perspective of ecocriticism, including Tania Maliarchuk’s «The Trapper», Oksana Zabuzhko’s «The Polyn Planet: Dovzhenko – Tarkovskii – von Trier or the New Horror Discourse», Pavlo Arie’s «At the Beginning and at the End of Times».
23 scientific researches made by the students of Ukrainian higher educational establishments were submitted to the competition. The second stage of the competition was held on the basis of Kremenchug National University named after Mykhailo Ostrogradskii. This international competition of students’ scientific researches is held to ensure Ukraine’s integration into European scientific and educational space, to strengthen international ties, to involve the students in innovative activity and mastering modern technologies, to create conditions for fulfilling the intellectual potential of gifted young people.
