The rector of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Ihor Tsependa, received the award of the “Rzeczpospolita” newspaper named after Jerzy Giedroyc.
The solemn award ceremony took place on November 27 in Warsaw. The laureate of the award, Ihor Tsependa, received a medal with the image of Jerzy Giedroyc, as well as a diploma. The eulogy was delivered by Jan Malitskyi, the director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of Warsaw University.In his speech during the award ceremony, the rector of the Precarpathian National University focused on the concept of dialogue.
Because without a dialogue between the peoples and governments of Ukraine and Poland, it is impossible to build open and trusting good-neighborly relations.Apart from Ihor Tsependa, the contenders for the award of one of the most influential newspapers in Poland this year were four more representatives from Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania, – director of the International Bruno Schulz Festival in Drohobych, Vera Menyok, director of the Lithuanian Institute of History, Alvydas Nikžentaitis, Eva Oshnietska, director of the South-Eastern Research Institute (Przemyśl) Stanisław Stępień.
