Today, on February 23rd, at the Educational-Scientific Law Institute of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, the II Scientific-Practical Conference with international participation, “Russian War Crimes – From Documentation to Punishment,” took place in a hybrid format. The opening of the conference was moderated by the director of the Educational-Scientific Law Institute, Yuriy Mykytyn.
The organizers include the Center for Documentation and Investigation of War Crimes, the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, the Department of Policy in the Fight against Crime and Criminal Law, and the Department of Jurisprudence of Precarpathian National University at the Educational-Scientific Law Institute. The conference is also supported by the public organization “Postupovyy hurt frankivtsiv.”
The welcoming speech was delivered by the rector of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Professor Igor Tsependa: “Greetings to all conference participants! I thank our colleagues from France, the organizers who initiated this event because the conference’s topic is extremely important for Ukraine. Despite the ongoing war, we must document the crimes committed by the Russian aggressor on our land. The criminal must face punishment! What the Putin regime has done in the 21st century regarding independent Ukraine is another confirmation that previous crimes by Russia were not condemned. The war in our country has opened the eyes of the West to the understanding that Russia is not a partner but an enemy! The terrorist acts committed by the occupier involve not only elements of physical destruction of the population but also a civilization crime.”
