On April 11 an exhibition of unique photographs by renowned mountain rescuer, head of the NGO ‘Carpathian Trails,’ and collaborator of our university, Vasyl Fitsak, was opened in the exhibition hall of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. He, like no other, knows and deeply loves the Carpathian Mountains, particularly Mount Pip Ivan (Black Mountain), where the International Scientific Center ‘Observatory’ of Precarpathian National University and Warsaw University is located.
Upon the invitation of the rector of Precarpathian National University, Ihor Tsependa, representatives of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Ivano-Frankivsk region, artists, students, and professors of PNU, as well as media representatives, attended the solemn opening.
“The exhibition is dedicated to the Chornohora Ridge, the Carpathians. Its purpose is to make us appreciate what we have, to cherish the beauty of the Ukrainian Carpathians, and, of course, to popularize it. The exhibition will start its journey in many universities across Ukraine. We are already forming a plan, and every region will have the opportunity to see the beauty of the Ukrainian Carpathians, the beauty of Pip Ivan and the International Scientific Center ‘Observatory,’ which today is the highest scientific object in Ukraine and the third in Europe. We thank Vasyl Fitsak for these wonderful works, inspiration, and motivation,” said Ihor Tsependa, the rector of Precarpathian National University.
Through his photographic creations, Vasyl shared the unique power, grandeur, and charm of Chornohora! The Observatory is depicted in different seasons, showcasing vegetation, animals, and natural phenomena. For centuries, the Black Mountain has been a Sacred Mountain of the Hutsuls.
