Olha Strilbytska had a research visit to Germany within the framework of the EIRENE project

Senior Scientist at the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University visited the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg, Germany, as part of the project “Regulation of gene expression to support healthy aging and longevity”. She received support from the Max Planck-Ukraine Cooperation & Mobility Grant program of the Max Planck Society, which allowed Olha to perform experiments as part of the research group of Professor Nicola Iovino. The project aimed to study the epigenetic mechanisms of lifespan and metabolism regulation in the fruit fly Drosophila.

It is worth noting that this is the second year of the project. Last year, Olha visited the Institute to study new methods which are important to fulfill the project’s goals. The duration of the grant is 3 years.

Olha’s comment “During two months (June-July) I had the opportunity to conduct experiments at one of the most respected scientific institutes in Germany, the Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology and Epigenetics. The research team of director and professor Nicola Iovino studies epigenetic mechanisms that regulate early development and reproductive health, using the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster as a model object. I am convinced that this collaboration will bring us one step closer to understanding the molecular and biochemical mechanisms underlying metabolic disorders and aging.”

Congratulations to Olha Strilbytska on gaining even more experience and new impressions thanks to such an interesting project!
