The International Forum “The Role of Education in the Development of Gender and Women’s Rights in the Arab World and European Region” has been recently held in Fes, Kingdom of Morocco. The event was organized within the framework of the Erasmus + KA2 project “GeSt – Gender Studies: A Step to Democracy and Peace in Neighboring EU Countries with Diverse Traditions”, No. 561785-EPP-1-2015-1-LT-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP, the participant of which is, in particular, the Precarpathian National University.
Our university was represented at the Forum by a delegation consisting of Olha Ziniuk, a project manager and a leading specialist of the Project Management Department, Professor Larisa Zahrai, the head of the academic project working group, head of the Department of Social Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy, Professor Ihor Hoyan, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, and Oksana Chuiko, associate professor of the Department of Social Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy. The Forum was held at the Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University and became the final event of the three-year collaboration of scholars of different specialties from 6 countries, which are project participants. Representatives from 10 universities in Europe and Africa participated in the discussion of gender issues. The European region was represented by the universities from the countries of the European Union (University of Vytautas the Great (Kaunas, Lithuania), University of Aristotle (Thessaloniki, Greece), Central European University (Budapest, Hungary) and Ukraine (Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Ivano-Frankivsk), V. Vynnychenko Central Ukrainian State Pedagogical University (Kropyvnitsky), Mykola Hohol Nizhyn State University (Nizhyn). The African continent was represented by the University of Sousse and Manouba University (Tunisia), Sultan Moulay Slimane University (Beni-Melal, Morocco) and the Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellaha University (Fes, Morocco). Within the framework of the event, the representatives of partner universities of the project reported on the achievements, shared their experiences, discussed the issues of interdisciplinary gender studies and gender studies in educational institutions, outlined the prospects for further cooperation. The scientists from our university also presented their own research. In particular, Professor Larisa Zahrai made a report on the “Thematic analysis in the study of the gender experience of the individual”. In his speech, Professor Ihor Hoyan highlighted the issue of gender tolerance as an axiological and ideological process. Doctor Oksana Chuiko told about gender equality as a factor in women’s career development. The participants of the Forum also discussed gender issues in various aspects: education, ideology, politics, media, religion, personality development and women’s rights. The format of the Forum included a combination of scientific reports with interactive modes: discussions and master classes. On the final day of the Forum there was a summing-up of the work of the Erasmus + KA2 project “GeSt – Gender Studies: A Step to Democracy and Peace in Neighboring EU Countries with Diverse Traditions”, No. 561785-EPP-1-2015-1-LT-EPPKA2-CBHE- JP
