Traditionally the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations organized charity event “The Poppy of Memory”. The event was founded by the teachers and students of the faculty in 2014 and was devoted to the historical date – November, 11. The organizers stress on the fact that World War I ended on that day and people from all over the world commemorate those who had died in Great War. The idea of using a red poppy as a symbol of memory belongs to Moini Michael, a teacher from the University of Georgia (the USA).
This year the event “The Poppy of Memory” was devoted to the 100–th anniversary of the end of Great War. Students presented self-made sweets and cookies. Also within the program of the event students’ teams took part in the thematic quest “World War I”. The team from the 1-st course won the contest. The sum of money gathered at the event (5500 hrn.) will be used for improving the state of tombs of military men who had died during World War I.
