June 20, 2019 a meeting of the newly created Committee on the quality of education within the framework of the EU Erasmus + project “Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments – MoPED” (№586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2 -CBHE-JP) was held at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.
Professor Halyna Mykhailyshyn, the Chairman of the committee, Vice-Rector on Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Doctor of Philosophy, noted that one of the urgent issues in the work of the university today is to ensure the quality of modernization of educational programs for future teachers training. At the meeting the issue of conducting an internal evaluation of the developed educational content of new academic disciplines (“Methodology of e-learning in primary school”, “Innovation technologies in STEM-education”, “Geocultural scientific literacy”, “Media-didactics at primary school”) was considered for the purposefulness their introduction into the educational process of the preparation of future teachers for the New Ukrainian School.
According to Viktor Kimakovich, Director of the Department of Education, Science and Youth Policy of the Regional State Administration, the problem of development of digital literacy of teachers in the region is extremely urgent. Therefore there is a need also for teachers to improve their qualifications regarding the use of ICT in professional activity, development of skills to use modern digital tools and resources in work with students. Ruslan Zapukhlyak, Vice-Rector on Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor, Deputy Chairman of the Committee emphasized on the importance of introducing an English discipline “Geocultural scientific literacy” into the university educational process for primary school future teachers.
In discussing the procedure for evaluating new academic disciplines participated: Head of the Department of Social Psychology and Developmental Psychology, Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor Larysa Zahrai; acting Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Oksana Kondur; Associate Professor of the Department of English Philology, Ph.D. in Philology Oksana Derevyanko; Deputy Director for educational work at Ivano-Frankivsk specialized secondary school I-III degrees № 5 with in-depth study of the German language, Ruslana Viznyuk (representative of stakeholders); Deputy Dean on teaching and methodological work of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Ph.D. in Biology, Tetyana Mykytyn; Dean of the Pedagogical Faculty of State Institution of Higher Learning “Hryhoriy Skovoroda State Pedagogical University of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky”, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Nataliia Ignatenko (external expert – distance participation); Roma Vagylevych, a student obtaining a Master’s degree at the Faculty of Pedagogy of PNU (a representative from students).
In the case of a positive evaluation by the Committee on the quality of education of the PNU University on the criteria of structural and functional, content and scientific, methodical and instrumental examination, the curriculum of the developed disciplines will be recommended for external evaluation.
