Traditionally, on the first day of the new academic year, students-graduates of the Department of Military Education and Training of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University took the oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people.
Symbolically, the event was held in the Memorial Square next to the grave of the Precarpathian University student, the Hero of the Heaven’s Hundred, the Hero of Ukraine Roman Huryk, who died in February 2014 during the Revolution of Dignity.
The celebration was attended by the Rector of the University, Igor Tsependa, the Metropolitan of Ivano-Frankivsk and Halych, the head of Ivano-Frankivsk eparchy of the UOC-KP, Joassaf, representatives of local governments, professors, graduates’ parents, servicemen and other guests who came to congratulate them on this solemn event.
In the festive atmosphere 66 graduates personally took the military oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people. After this ritual a primary military officer rank «Junior Lieutenant of Reserve» was conferred upon them according to the order of the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
The celebrations were completed with laying flowers to the grave of the University Student, the Hero of Ukraine Roman Huryk.
