The team of Precarpathian National University participated in International Robotics Competition Sumo Challenge for the second time. The event was held for twelfth time at the University of Technology (Politechnika Łódzka), Lodz, Republic of Poland.
More than 250 participants from Poland, Ukraine, Belarus and other European countries took part in the international competition for this year. Our country was represented by three teams – Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Odessa National Polytechnic University and Lviv Polytechnic National University. The team of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University consisted of Software Engineering students Oleh Rysniuk and Serhiy Khortiuk, engineering consultant Marian Fedirko, and the head of the department of Information Technology Mykola Kozlenko.
The team of the Carpathian University took part and won awards in two categories. The Roborace category is a race of autonomous robots where several cars compete simultaneously at a track which configuration is unknown in advance. As a result of the competition, our team won the second-place prize.
Another category in which the team of robotics technicians also successfully performed is TomTom Self-Driving Cars. According to the program, there were the competition of machines equipped with computer vision and artificial neural networks. In this category, our team won the prize for the best Fast and Safe car.
The winners of International Robotics Competition Sumo Challenge 2019 were awarded with sponsor prizes.
