During his visit to Avdiivka on December 30, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited the positions of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Major General Marko Bezruchko and awarded the best soldiers. Among the awardees was our Political Science graduate, Armed Forces officer from Ivano-Frankivsk, Marian “Fidel” Pidkhomnyi. He received the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, III degree, from the President.
“Fidel” has been at the front since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in the Donetsk sector. In the face of intense fighting, he rose from a soldier to a company commander of the legendary 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Marko Bezruchko. Its soldiers have been defending the city of Avdiivka for 21 months.
After sustaining gunshot shrapnel wounds in May 2022, Fidel recovered and returned to service.
