The Rector of PNU: “Without powerful universities, the region will start to decline”

Today, in Yaremche, the delegation of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University headed by Rector Ihor Tsependa held an offsite meeting with the heads of town, settlement, and village territorial communities of Nadvirna district. The meeting was preceded by the community leaders visit to the construction site of the university’s International Centre for Meetings of Students from Ukraine and Poland (ICM) in Mykulychyn and the presentation of the project “Badminton and Eyesight” by the Precarpathian University at the Mykulychyn Lyceum of the Yaremche Town Council. The meeting was initiated by Petro Khmelovskyi, the Head of Nadvirna District State Administration.

Volodymyr Velykochyi, the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Svitlana Kropelnytska, the Director of the Project and Education Centre “Agents of Changes” at the Precarpathian University and the Associate Professor of the Department of Finance, and Roman Stefaniuk, the Head of the Research Unit of the University attended the event.

The Rector of the Precarpathian University, Ihor Tsependa, opened the meeting. He told the leaders of the territorial communities of Nadvirna district about the role of the University in the restoration and development of communities on the example of the ICM in Mykulychyn and the International Science Centre “Observatory” on Mount Pip Ivan (ISC) in terms of the fulfillment of one of the three strategic missions of the University, namely, the impact on the development of the region.

The figures and facts provided by the Rector about the prospects of the communities, in particular, about filling their budgets, and possible interesting joint projects related to the work of the ICM and the ISC of the Precarpathian University, gave the leaders an understanding of the seriousness of the intentions of the PNU to fulfill its mission and motivated them to support the University and actively cooperate.

The Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Volodymyr Velykochyi, spoke about the prospects for recreation and tourism in the region.

Svitlana Kropelnytska, the Director of the Project and Education Centre “Agents of Changes” at the Precarpathian University and the Associate Professor of the Department of Finance, introduced the meeting participants to the prospects of project activities and the assistance that the Agents of Changes of the PNU can provide to communities.
