All-Ukrainian competition of autonomous robots for the Lviv Polytechnical University Cup was held recently in the lobby of the student library of the Lviv Polytechnic National University. The purpose of this traditional spectacular sports and technical adventure is to stimulate the creative, intellectual and spiritual development of student youth, the promotion of robotics, information technology, and applied programming.
Teams of more than ten higher education institutions, including representatives from Belarus took part in this international championship. These include, in particular, the Precarpathian National University (represented by 5 teams), Odessa National Polytechnic University, Odessa National Academy of Food Technologies, Ternopil National Technical University named after Ivan Puluj, Ternopil National Economic University, Galician College named after Viacheslav Chornovil (Ternopil), National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”, Cherkasy State Technological University. The hosts of the competitions, the National University “Lviv Polytechnic” (represented by 3 teams) .
The main task for the contestants was the construction of an operating model of self-driving car (scale 1: 10-1: 18). It must, without human intervention, be based solely on its artificial intelligence, find the correct trajectory of motion using sensors and camcorders to detect road conditions, obstacles or other participants in the movement and as soon as possible overcome the ten-track circuit and get to the finish.
The team of the Precarpathian University became the winner of the Cup of Lviv Polytechnic according to the results of all-Ukrainian competitions. The team was represented by the students of the specialty “Software Engineering” Oleg Rysniuk, Vladyslav Tymoshchuk, Serhiy Khortyuk; team engineer – Marian Fedirko, Team Leader – Head of the Department of Information Technologies, Associate Professor Mykola Kozlenko.
It should be added that the team of Precarpathian University for the third time has become the winner of the All-Ukrainian competitions in autonomous robot races for the Lviv Polytechnic Cup and has repeatedly become the winner of the All-Ukrainian Olympiad on Robotics.
