To Win in 48 Hours!

A student team of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University “GameHub PNU” which participated in the second round of the all-Ukrainian Computer Games Engineering Olympiad, has won third place. The event was organized by the Computer Engineering, Programing and Cyber Security Faculty of Odessa National Academy of Food Technologies under the aegis of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The PNU team consisted of Liubomyr Rybak and Mykola Ilnytsky (seniors majoring in the Computer Sciences Program of the Mathematics and Informatics Faculty) and Anzhela Urda, a graduate student of the Design Program of the Academic and Scientific Institute of Arts. The team leader was – Vitaly Gorelov, an associate professor of the Computer Sciences and Information Systems Department of Mathematics and Informatics Faculty.

The Olympiad was held in the framework of the game hackathon GameDev Open Cup Odessa 2019 which lasted for 48 hours. More than 130 participants from various branches of Ukrainian higher education participated.

The game called Co • Co • Inka was worked out with the help of the game engine Unity. The jury judged a classical “2D-runner” in which the character had to be constantly moving and overcoming obstacles. The game was shown on the Android platform.  Liubomyr and Mykola programmed the game, and Anzhela did the graphics.

During the period 2015-2018 scientists of the Computer Sciences and Information Systems Department of the Mathematics and Informatics Faculty of the Precarpathian University have been active participants in the Erasmus program + KA2 CBHE №561728-EPP-1-2015-1-ES-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP. Thanks to the project the Department has established the game software engineering laboratory GameLabPNU, where students can deepen their knowledge about the game engineering sphere.
