To give people the opportunity to see what they cannot see. The creative and scientific team of the Department of Design and Theory of Art of the Educational-Scientific Institute of Art of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, together with the Ivano-Frankivsk Museum of Local Lore, are adapting museum exhibits – icons of the 17th and early 20th centuries – for people with blindness. The catalogue consists of 24 icons now.
The team of performers includes PhD in Art Studies, Associate Professor of the Department of Design and Theory of Art Nadiia Babii; 4th-year students majoring in Graphic Design: Valentyn Tupalo, Sofiia Suslyk, Natalka Lutsyk, Mariia Zvarych, Vasyl Mykhavkiv, Oleksandra Kobets, Anna Hetmanchuk, Bohdan Halko; and Valerii Tverdokhlib, a restorer of the highest category of the Ivano-Frankivsk Museum of Local Lore. The project consultant is Doctor of Art Studies, Professor Iryna Dundiak, and the technical design of the project “Tyfloteka” has been carried out by the department’s assistant, Andrii Khamurda.
The project is of strategic importance for the development of the cultural environment of the region through access to cultural heritage for all segments of the population. It promotes equality of rights and ensures a non-discriminatory approach, inclusiveness, and accessibility of national art for visually impaired citizens.
