Eight students of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University successfully participated in the XVIth International Scientific Conference for Students and Young Researchers “Shevchenkivska Vesna: Achievements of Biological Science/Bioscience Advances”. The event was held on April 24-27 at the Educational and Scientific Center “Institute of Biology and Medicine” of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University. About 200 participants from different cities of Ukraine and abroad took part in the scientific forum.
Our would-be biochemists presented oral speeches within the program of the international conference. Namely: a 2-year student Alina Zayachkivska (“Nanoparticles as a potential agent for reducing glucose levels”, scientific supervisor – Candidate of Biological Sciences, postdoctoral student Oleh Lushchak); undergraduate students of the 1st year of study “Intermittent fasting in mice: activity of the key glycolic enzymes”, scientific supervisor – Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Galyna Semchyshyn), Andriy Klonovsky (“The corrective effect of alcoholic extract of Medicinal Galega officinalis (Galega officinalis L.) and Blueberries common (Vaccinium myrtillus L.) on the physiological and biochemical parameters of Drosophila melanogaster in the consumption of starch on the basis of amylose”, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Oleksandra Abrat) and Anastasiya Grushchenko (“Peculiarities of the course of physiological and biochemical processes in Drosophila melanogaster under different conditions correlation of macronutritions in their diet”, supervisor – Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Oleksandra Abrat).
Students of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology also made poster presentations. In particular, the researches were presented by Master students of the first year of study Alina Semchuk (“Glutathione reductase/glutathione peroxidase system and associated enzymes in mice under intermittent fasting”, scientific supervisor – Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Galyna Semchyshyn), Tetyana Pankiv (“The effect of periodic starvation on the respiratory activity of the mitochondria of the cerebral muscle of the line C57/BL6”, scientific supervisor – Candidate of Biological Sciences, Assistant Professor Maria Bailyak), students of the 3rd year of study Vitaliy Balatsky (“Influence of arginine and alpha-ketoglutarate on the activity of the mitochondrial respiratory system complexes”, supervisor – Ph.D., Associate Professor Dmytro Gospodaryov) and Victoria Tymiv (“Impact chrome containing nanoparticles on blood glucose in the hemolymph of D. melanogaster”, supervisor – Ph.D., postdoctoral student Oleg Lushchak).
According to the results of the XVIth International Conference for Students and Young Researchers “Shevchenkivska Vesna: Achievements of Biological Science/Bioscience Advances” the following diploma were awarded: the Diploma of the II degree – to Andriy Klonovsky, the Diploma of the III degree – to Anastasia Grushchenko, Alina Zayachkivska, Les Syschuk, Alina Semchuk, Tetyana Panki, Viktoriya Timov and Vitaliy Balatsky.
We are proud of the success of our students and wish them further scientific achievements!
