The teachers’ author body of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University has presented the Ukrainian edition on financial literacy “The World of Money” for kids and teenagers.
The ceremony participated by Roman Hreba, the Deputy of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine and the initiator of the Ukrainian project – Ihor Tsependa, Rector of Precarpatian University has taken place in Ivano-Frankivsk academic lyceam-boarding school of Ivano-Frankivsk regional counsil for country-side talented children. The presentation was also attended by Victor Kimakovych, Head of the Department of Education and Science of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration; Roman Zubiak, Rector of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Institute of Pedagogues Postgraduate Education; Vasyl Stefanyshyn, Headmaster of the lyceam-boarding school; Valentyna Yakubiv , Olha Derkachova, Oksana Dzus, the teachers of the University and the participants of the author body education.
“This project is international as Precarpathian National University obtained a copyright to the edition of this book in Ukraine. Our teachers worked on adapting it to Ukrainian realia. This edition contains the history of Ukrainian money starting with ancient times and up to now and nowadays realia are also depicted in it. The whole material is presented in the interesting and easy form. Together with Kredobank that embodies the program. “Let`s read together with kids” we have realized this project,” – said Ihor Tsependa, Rector.
He also mentioned that similar collections have already been published in Poland and Israel. Tha author of the idea of the project ‒ Jerzy Kizanowski, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Rzeszo̍w 1000 copies of Ukrainia edition have been published and all of them will be passed to schools. In general, the value of the project is nearly 90 000 hryvnas.
During the presentation Ihor Tsependa, Rector of the University informed about the future plans of this project. He mentioned that the next step would be working out of the computer game that would be dedicated to this very theme. The book would be the basis of it. Thus, kids would be able to understand the role of money in their life and the way to treat it properly while playing this game.
The floor was also given to Roman Hreba, the Deputy of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine. Addressing the senior pupils Roman Volodymyrovych emphasized that the book would be very helpful in their everyday life.
Now the reform of the new Ukrainian school is being reslized in Ukraine. We aim at giving our pupils new competences that will help them in grown-up life. One of them is financial literacy, that is, our pupils have to understand the role of money, how to plan the budget, how to plan expenses and profits as in a few years they will become grown-up and will built up our state,” – said Roman Hreba.
The Deputy of the Minister also mentioned that the book of the author body of Precarpathian University “The World of Money” can be used in school program after obtaining the code of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Literary editor of this edition, Professor Olha Derkachova stressed that the book was useful not only for kids but also for adults.
Valyntyna Yakubiv, Doctor of Economy, Professor who adopted the economic information for this book, paid attention to the fact that tha material had been formed according to the modern economy of Ukraine.
“The book contails a lot of pictures, comments, interedting stories which help kids to perceive easily such complicated categories as “financial literacy”, “financial competence”, “financial stability”, that is, the book explains important economic categories at such elementary level, said Valentyna Yakubiv.
At the end of the presentation all senior pupils were presented with the first copies of the Ukrainian edition “The World of Money”.
