Team of Carpathian University became the winner of all-Ukrainian competitions in the race of autonomous robots

National competition of autonomous robots for the Lviv Polytechnic University Cup was held recently in the lobby of the student library of the Lviv Polytechnic National University. The purpose of this traditional spectacular sports and technical adventure is to stimulate the creative, intellectual and spiritual development of student youth, the promotion of robotics, information technology, and applied programming. This year 28 teams registered for the competition. Only 16 teams successfully complited the sertification and entered into the semifinals, where 6 finalists were chosen. Among the finalists there was also the team of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University which was represented by the Software Engineering students Oleh Rysniuk and Serhiy Khortiuk. The team’s supervisor was the head of the department of Information Technology Mykola Kozlenko.

The main task for the contestants was building of an operating model of a self-driving car (in the scale limited to 1:10). It should be an AI based system, that can find the correct trajectory of motion using sensors and cameras and as soon as possible overcome ten laps and get to the finish.

1st place:  The hosts of the competitions, Lviv Polytechnic National University; 2nd places: Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”; 3rd places: Cherkasy State Technological University, Odessa National Polytechnic University, Galician College (Ternopil).
